Community

We care about community

St Barnabas is passionate about community and being a community-based church for people living in Weeke, Harestock, Teg Down and King’s Barton.

We have recently had a new Link Building built which is a warm and welcoming space for those in the community to come into.

On Thursday mornings from 8.30am – 12pm we have a Pop-Up Cafe where free drinks and cake is available.  It is a space to come and sit and chat and meet others in the community.  Different thinks take place on various dates during this time such as Citizens Advice, Nail Care for the over 60s and a Tech Fest for the over 60s.  Watch this space for other activities that will be coming.

We are doing this to identify something that will change lives for the better and have long term effects within the whole community. Our planning revolves around this aim:

‘To help create stable and loving family units (including children and youth) and caring for the elderly, with a particular emphasis on addressing issues of mental health and loneliness across the area.’

We are also linked with a number of different services, charities and organisations working in the local and wider community

Street Pastors – Offering safety, reassurance and support to those working or enjoying the night life of Winchester.

Parish Visiting – A team of volunteers who visit those in need of company in the local community.

Boaz Project – A provision for those leaving full time education with learning disabilities.
